What are you getting rid of?

Why I made this
When I moved, getting rid of the mattress, an old couch and a TV turned into a project. The town website sent me through page after page, an old PDF and a phone number. Every item had a different rule, and the wrong day at the curb can mean a ticket. A lot of it was free. It was just hard to find.
So I wrote it all down, city by city: what's free, where it goes, who to call, and a link to the official source.
We don't haul it. We show you how.
What this is: Get Rid Map is a free, independent directory of official local disposal rules. We don't haul anything or sell removal services; every fact links to its source. About this directory · All sources

How this guide works
To get rid of a mattress, couch, fridge or other bulky item, start with your city's bulky pickup or drop-off: many cities do it free by appointment, with bag and set-out rules. State programs in CA, CT, RI and OR recycle mattresses free. Optional paid services are listed separately, below the free ones. Each guide links its government sources.
Independent guide, not a government website. Confirm with your city or the linked official source before acting; rules and fees change.
Mattresses, junk, appliances, cars, move-out clutter: city rules from government sources, plus optional paid services, listed separately.

Free local rules, all in one place.
Get Rid Map gathers the disposal information your city, county and state already publish (pickup days, drop-off sites, fees and recycling programs) and puts it in one easy directory with a link to every source. Using the guide is always free.

When the free options don't fit your schedule or your stuff, we also list independent companies that offer paid services like junk removal, moving and storage. They're separate businesses, not us. If you book through some of these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and that's how we keep the guide free. Free options always come first, and partners never change the facts.
